WAIT FOR POWER FIRST

Image
In the science of electricity, it has been found that the best form in which motive power can be used to run cars is not through storage batteries, but through overhead wires. The power is not stored up in the car, but in the dynamo and the wire. The car just draws it from above by constant contact, and the moment it lets go its touch the power is gone. The power is not in the car, but in the wire. The car can only draw the power from the wire in so far as it follows the track. After Jesus was killed on the cross, “ God raised Him from the dead , putting an end to the agony of death, since it was impossible for Him to be held in its power” (Acts 2:24 ). Because Jesus overcame death , we shall overcome it as well (1Cor.6:14). Jesus foretold about his death and resurrection (Mark 8:31,10:32-34). They happened exactly the way he had said they would. Jesus’ resurrection fulfilled Old Testament prophesy (Isa. 26:19, Dan. 12:2-3). We can trust that the part of

LINE BUSY KEEP TRYING

Image
A man needed to make a phone call to his insurance company.   First came the busy signals for an entire day! Next came a recorded message that said, “Our lines are still busy. Please hold or hang up and try again.” Finally he got through. But this led to a set of instructions: For policy information, press 1. For new coverage, press 2. To make a claim, press 3. To talk to an agent, press 4. He chose the last option. A recording said he was out of the office. He hung up. In Psalm 34:15,17 David says “The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are open to their cry.   The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles”.   These are wonderful promises of God’s providential care for the righteous. Years later Apostle Peter quoted these words of David ( 1 Peter 3:12 ); God had the promise repeated in the New Testament because it’s valid for all generations. The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous; David knew this

HE IS ALIVE

Benjamin Franklin penned his own epitaph. He didn't profess to be a born-again Christian, but here's what he wrote: The Body of B. Franklin, Printer Like the Cover of an old Book Its contents torn out, And stript of its Lettering and Guilding, Lies here, Food for Worms, But the Work shall not be wholly lost: For it will, as he believed, Appear once more in a new and more perfect Edition, Corrected and amended by the Author (source unknown). The book of Acts in the Bible serves as a bridge between the Gospels and the Epistles. If Acts was not there, we would have no context for the letters. The Ascension of Jesus marked the turning point in the history of the world. For thousands of years, God dealt almost exclusively with Israel but in Acts the worship of God transitions from the Jewish temple to the predominately Gentile churches. The book of Act is the first page of Church history. In Matthew 16:18, Jesus made this promise “I will build my Church and the gates of Hell
