God's Promises Still Stand

When Corrie Ten Boom was entering the dreaded Ravensbruck prison she smuggled in a Bible.   She wrote about the experience in her book “Jesus is victor”. She wrote” my sister Betsie and I together with thousands of other women were matched into Ravensbruck; it was called a work camp. When we first came into this concentration camp, they took all our possessions. It was a real miracle that I was able to keep my Bible. At a great risk I hid it on my back under my dress and I prayed “Lord will you send your angels to surround me?” then I thought, but angels are Spirits and you can see through Spirits. I don’t want these people to see me! So I prayed, in great fear, “let your angels not be transparent. Let them cover me”. And God did it! As we passed thro...

Show me Your Glory

Scientists tell us that the slant of the earth, tilted at an angle of 23 degrees, produces our seasons. If the earth had not been tilted exactly as it is, vapors from the oceans would move both north and south, piling up continents of ice. If the Moon were only 50,000 miles away from earth, instead of 200,000 miles away, the tides might be so enormous that all continents would be submerged. The stars are God's fingerprints. The sun is a mere smidgen of His radiance. The moon is to remind us that He doesn't sleep at night. The vastness of space proclaims the infinity of His wisdom, while the sand pebble indicates His thoroughness with the puniest details. And yet, those possess only a tidbit of God's omnipotence and omnipresence (Brent D. Earles). For many years a desire had been growing in the heart of Moses to see the face of God and in Exodus 33 he prayed to God “now show me your glory.” The Lord said, “you cannot s...

An eminent preacher once said to the great English actor Macready: "I wish you would explain to me something." "Well, what is it? I don't know that I can explain anything to a preacher." The preacher said "what is the reason for the difference between you and me? You are appearing before crowds night after night with fiction and the crowds come wherever you go. I am preaching the essential and unchangeable truth and I am not getting any crowd at all." Macready's answer was this: "This is quite simple. I can tell you the difference between us. I present my fiction as though it were truth; you present your truth as though it were fiction."  In Acts 3 we read about Apostle Peter’s second sermon. Acts 3:11-12 says “while the man held on to Peter and John, all the people were astonished and came running to them in the place called Solomon’s Colonnade. When Peter saw this, he said to the...
